CBN Launches Account Opening Week to Boost Financial Inclusion

In a bid to aggressively and sustainably ramp up access to financial services and support the low income earners, underserved and un-served population, the National Financial Inclusion Steering has commenced Financial Inclusion Account Opening week.

Series of events have been lined up by the different states of the federation to mark the week from December 12-17, 2019.

The approval for Financial Inclusion Account Opening week was given at the eighth edition of the meeting of the National Financial Inclusion Steering committee which held on July 25, 2019.

The week will feature the location of financial access points in commercial locations; massive publicity through the radio and print media to ensure widespread knowledge and mobilization by state governments.

Among others, the Account Opening Week will promote and support poverty alleviation and economic development.
