Adedeji said that while data is key for building economic growth, it is also important to build a viable business structures.

“You cannot place product right if you don’t have customers’ data. Data is key in driving retail business, and even in governance, the government needs data to build roads, and provide infrastructures.”

He added that social media data is becoming more critical to know what the customer want and what the customer want to buy.

“As we evolve, technology and social media play cogent role in online selling and that is where customers are. If you open a store, you sell to people that come to your store. If you want to sell online, you talk to people that are online. A lot of us are online; we are being able to sell online”, he said.

“Technology is not just about interface of selling. It is also about the supply chain of selling and the logistics of selling”, he said.
