First Bank Nigeria begins Cardless ATM Services

LAGOS, NIGERIA: First Bank of Nigeria Plc. has inaugurated its cardless ATM services, to provide financial transactions from its machines to people without bank accounts or payment cards, the bank said in a statement during the weekend in Lagos.

The system will serve and extend financial services to the unbanked and under-banked, and it is aimed at complementing the cashless policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and achieving financial inclusion to enhance sustainable economic development, entrepreneurship and wealth creation, an official said. “With this innovative offering, our existing and prospective customers now have another platform to enjoy hitch-free money transfer services,” said Bisi Onasanya, Managing Director of First Bank.

“As a leading player in the sector, First Bank is proud to spearhead the quest for financial inclusion as CBN targets unbanked 50 million Nigerians.”

The platform is created mostly for low income earners and rural dwellers to take advantage of the bank’s range of tailored financial services, according to the group.
